Active grounding systems with process monitoring (TERRABOX)
Safe monitoring and process release through continuous measurement of the ground connection
Using their intrinsically safe electrical circuit, Eltex grounding systems monitor and check the entire connection between an object contacted with the ground tester (tanker vehicle, container etc.) and the equipotential bonding conductor. If the safe and correct connection is detected and the integrated changeover contacts are switched accordingly, optical or acoustic signal transmitters, interlocks, pumps, valves etc. can be activated. This ensures safe and reliable dissipation of any electrostatic charges.
In conjunction with the Eltex ground testers, Rewinding Cable Reels or ground cables, Eltex grounding systems ensure that your processes cannot be started until safe electrostatic grounding is present.
TERRABOX grounding system
Terrabox TCB030 is designed for direct installation in explosion hazard areas and for connecting a clamp. Two clamps are connected when used for BIG BAG grounding. The dual-color indicator lamp signals the correct grounding state. The integrated contacts allow an enable circuit to be implemented.
Installation in Ex areas, Zone 1 + 2 (21 + 22), Resistive ground monitoring device.
TERRACOMPACT II
During filling or decanting processes involving solid or liquid materials in the Ex area, the Eltex Terracompact II automatically identifies faulty or defective ground links in the installation. If the floating changeover contact is switched accordingly, it shuts off the process.
The Terracompact II is a standard housing for assembly on a DIN 46277 top-hat rail for installation in a control cabinet or a control room.
Intrinsically safe electrical circuit, approved for Zones 1 + 2 (21 + 22), Installation in control cabinet, Resistive ground monitoring device
TERRACAP grounding system
The TERRACAP TCB040-V2 capacitive ground monitoring system identifies a low-resistance connection using the connected ground clamp. If a connection is identified, the device discharges electrostatic charges safely via a resistor, which prevents a discharge spark from forming. The control unit then checks the capacitance detected at the clamp. If the capacitance for the tanker truck is correct, a green display lights up and the interlocking relay enables the pumping process. The device then forms a low-resistance connection to ground, which prevents further build-up of electrostatic
charges.
The connection is continuously monitored during pumping using the connected ground clamp. If the connection is interrupted, the unit switches to the RED state for “no connection” and the pumping operation is stopped immediately using the locking relay.

Clamps TERRA-C/S, TERRA-C/B, 70AK, 70HK
The active Eltex grounding clamps from the TERRACLAMP and the 70 series are used together with the TERRALIGHT and the Terra-Control TUE30 ground monitoring system to establish and monitor grounding connections. These devices are used when decanting or filling potentially explosive substances. Existing electrostatic changes are discharged effectively in a controlled manner.
The active grounding clamps from the TERRA-C/S, TERRA-C/B, 70AK and 70HK series feature extremely hard and sharp collet jaws. The jaws also feature a continuously high clamping force, ensuring a secure connection to the equipotential bonding at all times. The standard version of the grounding clamps includes a plug-in-connector for an easy connection to the included grounding cable, spiral cable and rewinding cable reels.
Use in Ex areas, Zone 1 + 2 (21 + 22), Various versions and sizes
Cable rewinders, active grounding
The cable rewinders 601KR rewind the grounding cable after use of the ground contactor, protecting the cable from damage. Several versions are available: The cable rewinders 601KR/AW and 601KR/DW come in an impact resistant aluminum casing and the cable rewinder 601KR/KW comes in an impact resistant plastic casing. All cable rewinders are appropriate for use in the explosion hazardous areas 1 and 21.
Ground cables as spiral or standard cables.
The prefabricated Eltex ground cables for active grounding ensure an easy-to-install connection between the ground tester and grounding unit. The cables are already fabricated for connection to the corresponding grounding unit. A suitable IP67 plug-in coupling is installed for connection to the ground tester.
Due to the intrinsically safe electrical circuit, the active ground cables are supplied in the color light blue and are available as standard ground cables or spiral ground cables. The standard cables are available in lengths of 5 to 95 m in 5 m increments, while the spiral cables come in the lengths 5 or 10 m (stretched).
Active grounding systems with process monitoring (TERRALIGHT)
Smaller quantities of highly flammable materials are often filled by hand. These manual processes usually lack a suitable and reliable grounding system. As a result, tanks, barrels, buckets or funnels can take on an electrostatic charge. Resulting uncontrollable electrostatic discharge sparks lead to a high danger of explosion.
In these manual processes that are not integrated into the process monitoring, the battery-operated Eltex TERRALIGHT ground monitoring system provides safety and reliability. It checks whether the grounding contact has a conductive connection to the object being grounded, whether it has sufficient conductivity and whether the object itself is connected to the equipotential bonding conductor. This makes it possible to prevent dangerous electrostatic charges reliably without major installation effort.
Together with the Eltex TERRACLAMP and the Rewinding Cable Reels or ground cables, safe, optimal and reliable grounding is guaranteed.
In smaller quantities, highly flammable materials are often filled by hand. As in these cases there is no reliable ground connection of the containers, barrels, scoops or hoppers, there is a high explosion hazard due to uncontrolled electrostatic sparks.
The TERRALIGHT now provides safety, even for manual processes. It checks whether the grounding contact has a conductive connection to the object being grounded and even whether it has a connection to potential equalization. This helps ensure reliable dissipation of static charges.

Passive grounding
Simple electrostatic grounding without monitoring
Available in different versions, the passive Eltex ground clamps are used in all applications that require electrostatic discharge to be dissipated but do not permit the use of active grounding units. Sharp teeth and a permanently high closing force ensure optimum contact, even with painted or dirty surfaces.
The passive Eltex cable reels are the ideal accessories for the passive ground clamps and ensure safe storage of the ground cable and clamp.
Clamps TERRA-C/P, 70OK and 70PK
Passive ground clamps from the TERRA-C/P, 70SG, 70PG, 70OK and 70PK series have extremely hard and sharp gripper jaws that can penetrate any coating. The clamps have a continuously high clamping force, which always ensures a secure connection to the potential equalization at all times.
In addition, the TERRA-C/POS, 70SG and 70PK grounding clamps have a plug-in-connector for a simple connection to the passive grounding cable, spiral cable and rewinding cable reels.
Use in Ex areas, Zone 1 + 2 (21 + 22).
Cable rewinders, passive grounding
In addition to the well-known 601KR/BW passive rewinding cable reel with 9 m grounding cable in a plastic casing, the 601KR/EW rewinding cable reel is available in an impact-resistant aluminum casing and can hold a grounding cable of up to 12 m. These reels can be used in Zones 1 and 21. Both reels are designed for wall mounting, but the 601KR/EW can also be swivel-mounted using a mounting bracket.
